New Delhi: France is currently grappling with internal challenges. Hundreds of thousands of protesters have taken to the streets, destabilising the government’s order. So far, thousands of people have been arrested. The primary reasons cited for the protests include inflation, issues within the education system, and corruption. Amidst the deteriorating situation in France, U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed strong concern regarding the ongoing unrest.
He issued a stern warning to President Emmanuel Macron. On Tuesday, Donald Trump remarked that Paris is on the path to becoming a “Muslim country.” Furthermore, he offered a sharp critique regarding the issue of immigration, stating that the influx of migrants has led to rapid demographic shifts.

500,000 Protesters Take to the Streets in France
A large number of people have taken to the streets in France to protest against government policies. According to official government estimates, approximately 500,000 people are participating in the demonstrations. Reports of violent clashes between police and protesters have emerged from several locations. In some areas, protesters have engaged in acts of lawlessness, including arson.
Both police officers and protesters have sustained injuries during these events. Speaking to the media at the White House, Donald Trump remarked, “He [Macron] is a friend of mine. I told him a long time ago that he was making a major mistake regarding France—by allowing people from all over the world to enter.”
Millions Affected by the Unrest
Riots have broken out in several French cities, affecting millions of people. On Saturday, approximately 550,000 individuals participated in the protests. The French Ministry of the Interior has also released significant information regarding the situation. According to the Ministry of the Interior, a total of 2,397 people have been arrested during these protests, which were marked by violence. Additionally, 997 police officers and personnel have sustained injuries, seven of whom are in serious condition.

Legal action against rioters

Fire in a 143-Year-Old Building
It should be noted that the ongoing protests in France, initially sparked by specific demands, are increasingly becoming synonymous with violence. On the night of October 17, in the city of Limoges, some violent elements set fire to a 143-year-old historic town hall. This has further heightened tension in the area. The government has also condemned such malicious intent. Additionally, vehicles and shops were set ablaze.
