Following the SSR, preparations for the SSR have begun. Instructions have been issued in approximately 17 states to update voter lists before the elections, and even the date for the draft list has been announced. The complete draft list will be released on November 12th. The process of correcting and updating voter lists across the country has now begun. In this regard, the Election Commission has begun preparations for the Special Summary Revision (SSR). These preparations are being initiated because elections in the states are nearing, and the Commission has issued guidelines for the revision of voter lists in 17 states and union territories. The primary objective of this campaign is to update the voter list and enroll new voters. Furthermore, the draft voter list will be released on November 12th.

After this process, all incorrect names will be corrected, and those whose names need to be added will be added. The Election Commission has finalized a schedule for this, and now, after the draft voter list is released, people can file their claims and objections until December 11th.

What is the SSR process?

Special Summary Revision (SSR) is a process for regular revision of the voter list, which is extremely important for voters. Through this process, new eligible voters will be added to the voter list. All those who became eligible to vote this year or last year will be added. Incorrect information, such as incorrect names or addresses, will be corrected and updated before the elections to avoid any problems. This is crucial because as time progresses, some people’s addresses change or some people move elsewhere, which is why these are updated and the list is corrected.

Draft to be released on November 12th

As per the scheduled schedule, the draft voter list will be released on November 12th. Any errors or omissions found in the list will be corrected within the stipulated time, after which a draft will be issued on the scheduled date.

After the draft list is released, voters should ensure that their names are correctly recorded. New voters, in particular, will need to pay special attention to this.

Voter Claims and Objections Can Be Filed Until December 11th

According to the Election Commission’s schedule, the deadline has been set. According to information received, voters will be able to file claims and objections until December 11th, and this period will expire after that. During this period, eligible citizens can apply to have their names added to the voter list, correct errors, or make corrections.

Voters Need to Be Vigilant From Now

Voters’ participation in the SSR process is crucial; this program is being implemented for them. Voters’ responsibility isn’t just to search for their names on the voter list at the time of voting; they also have to check whether their name is correct and whether it exists. If the name is not present in the voter list or there is any mistake in any detail, then correct it within the time limit.
