New Delhi: A series of protests against the Election Commission and the government is currently underway in the national capital, Delhi. These demonstrations are causing disruptions to road traffic. On October 10, several metro stations in Delhi were closed due to a protest organised by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’. Today, October 16, some routes in the capital may face disruptions due to a planned protest at Central Park in Connaught Place.

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory regarding this. According to the advisory, traffic in and around Connaught Place is expected to be affected starting from 3:00 PM. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams. Furthermore, traffic diversions may be implemented if necessary. Consequently, the public is encouraged to use public transport rather than private vehicles.

Roads in areas adjacent to Connaught Place may be affected.

As the protests continue in the national capital, the Delhi Traffic Police has indicated that traffic could be impacted on Sansad Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, and Panchkuian Road. Additionally, motorists may face difficulties on Basant Lane, Chelmsford Road, Minto Road, and Barakhamba Road.

Other areas likely to be affected include Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Janpath, the roads surrounding Rail Bhawan, and Rafi Marg. Traffic conditions are also expected to be impacted around C-Hexagon, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, and Windsor Place. According to the Delhi Traffic Police advisory, traffic may also be affected near Gol Dak Khana and on Ashoka Road.

Motorists are advised to exercise extra caution on the stretch of Ashoka Road between the GPO (General Post Office) and C-Hexagon. Additionally, traffic pressure is expected to increase on Tilak Marg, Tolstoy Marg, and Sikandra Road. Those planning to travel via these routes should consider taking alternative paths.

Appeal by the Traffic Police

The Delhi Police has urged motorists to follow the instructions of traffic personnel. According to the police, traffic arrangements may be adjusted as needed during the demonstrations. Consequently, commuters are advised to follow the directions provided by police personnel deployed on-site.

The traffic police advise that if you are planning to visit Connaught Place, Mandi House, Patel Chowk, or other busy areas in New Delhi this Friday, please plan your departure time and route to avoid any inconvenience. Opting for public transport may also help you avoid getting stuck in traffic congestion. You will be able to avoid traffic congestion by using alternative routes.
