The news of his sudden death left everyone shaken, and a wave of grief swept through the film fraternity. Nana Patekar was declared dead at 5:20 AM by the medical team from Manipal Hospital, Goa. He had complained of severe chest pain, prompting a medical team to be dispatched to his flat. Upon their arrival, he was found in an unconscious state. Now, his admirers are paying tribute and remembering him via social media.

He received a National Film Award for the 1992 film Angaar. Meanwhile, Krantiveer stands out as one of the most memorable films of his career; he won both a National Award and a Filmfare Award for it. Nana also won hearts with his performances in films like Parinda, Tirangaa, Agnisakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Welcome, Apaharan, and Raajneeti.
