New Delhi: Pressure is mounting on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Protests demanding his resignation are taking place across the country, from the capital, Delhi, to various other regions. On October 2, several political parties, including the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), organised a march to demand the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation.
The CJP demonstrated its strength by gathering a crowd at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. The party has now announced plans to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar starting October 10. Amidst the growing anger against the Election Commission, CJP leader Saurav Das made a significant statement referencing the remarks of Supreme Court Justice Ujjal Bhuyan. Das confirmed that the ‘Cockroach’ group would protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10.

Saurav Das Issues a Warning to Gyanesh Kumar
Taking to the social media platform X, Saurav Das highlighted a major statement from a Supreme Court judge, writing: “Big statement from the Supreme Court judge. It is no longer tenable for ‘Gyanu Bro’ (Gyanesh Kumar) to remain in office. The ‘Cockroaches’ are coming on October 10.” By reposting Justice Ujjal Bhuyan’s statement, Das also took a dig at Gyanesh Kumar.
According to Bar & Bench, Justice Bhuyan stated that if a process results in millions of Indian citizens being deprived of their right to vote, that process is fundamentally arbitrary. It cannot be justified by any argument; no authority can act in such a manner, and no court can sanction it.
Protests Against Gyanesh Kumar
In addition to the Cockroach Janata Party, leaders from various political and social organisations are protesting against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, all demanding his resignation. CJP had organised a massive protest in Mumbai that drew a large crowd; Shivaji Park in the city was swarmed with cockroaches.

The Shiv Sena also held a march on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Indian Youth Congress organised a torchlight procession in Delhi on Sunday, demanding that Jantar Mantar be restored as a designated site for peaceful protests.
Delhi Police on alert following CJP’s announcement
Police and security agencies have been on high alert ever since the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) called for a protest in Delhi on October 10. CJP activists and supporters are set to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar on that day to demand the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.
The protest will continue until the Chief Election Commissioner resigns. CJP founder Abhijit Deepke stated that if the police stopped them anywhere, that very spot would become their Jantar Mantar.
