New Delhi: India boasts a wide range of vehicles that remain top choices for consumers, generating significant excitement whenever a new model is purchased. If you are considering buying a robust vehicle, look no further. Tata Motors, one of the country’s leading automakers, frequently launches new models in the market. Tata Motors has now rebranded its passenger vehicle division as ‘Tata Cars’ and is introducing a new model poised to make a major splash.
It will go head-to-head with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, a long-time ruler of the sedan market. This new contender is the Tata Iris, set to launch this week. The company has already begun teasing the vehicle. It is scheduled for launch tomorrow, September 25, 2026. The Iris will replace the existing Tigor model, and Tata expects it to drive strong sales in the entry-level sedan segment.
Key Features of the Iris
The vehicle promises to be packed with impressive features. The latest teaser reveals projector headlamps accompanied by sleek, integrated LED DRLs. While the Tigor featured a chrome-finished grille, the Iris will sport a glossy black panel connecting the headlamps.
The Iris will also be available in a new light metallic purple colour. Inside, it will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a new fully digital instrument cluster, all set against a light-colored interior.
The dashboard design closely resembles that of the new Tata Tiago facelift. Additionally, the vehicle will offer rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera setup, a Type-C charging port, and a new AC control panel. Button controls will also be visible in the ‘Aris’, as clearly seen in the teaser.
What else will be special about the vehicle?
Regarding the engine and power, the Tata Aris will feature the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine previously used in the Tiago—which generates 83 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Options for both 5-speed manual and AMT transmissions are likely to be available.
Given that Tata competes with Maruti, the arrival of a CNG variant can also be considered certain. This car will come with a dual-cylinder CNG setup paired with an AMT, ensuring usable boot space is retained.
