New Delhi: Preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections have already begun, with all political parties strategising their next moves. While the BJP aims for a hat-trick in power, the SP is striving to replicate its 2012 success. Amidst these preparations, the atmosphere turned tense during a crucial meeting in Lucknow regarding the SP’s organisational structure in Etah and Kasganj.
A heated exchange erupted between two prominent SP leaders in the presence of party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The situation escalated rapidly, descending into the use of abusive language. Observing the volatile atmosphere among the leaders, Akhilesh Yadav admonished them to conduct themselves properly and walked out of the meeting midway. About 30 minutes later, the party leadership announced a major organisational decision: the complete dissolution of the district executive committees and frontal organisations for both Etah and Kasganj.
Tense Atmosphere During Feedback Meeting
A feedback meeting was convened on Saturday at the Samajwadi Party office in Lucknow to assess the organisational status in Etah and Kasganj, review past election results, and discuss preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections. Reports indicate that approximately 250 senior leaders and office-bearers from both districts attended the meeting. Akhilesh Yadav arrived around 12:00 PM. Information was being gathered from the leaders regarding the ground-level organisational situation and election preparedness.
Heated Argument During Deliberations
During the review meeting, SP leader Manjeet Yadav, reportedly the nephew of former Legislative Council Chairman Ramesh Yadav, began presenting his views on the party’s standing and the reasons for its defeat in the previous election. Simultaneously, Jugendra Singh Yadav, the former Chairman of the Etah Zila Panchayat, stood up to speak. It is reported that Manjeet Yadav took exception to certain remarks made by Jugendra Singh Yadav, sparking a heated argument between the two.
Leaders Resort to Verbal Abuse
Senior leaders present at the meeting attempted to pacify both parties. However, instead of calming down, the situation escalated further. It is reported that the exchange quickly devolved into verbal abuse between the two sides. Akhilesh Yadav has warned the leaders to maintain discipline.
Akhilesh Yadav Expresses Displeasure
Taking a dig at the situation, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav remarked that Subodh Yadav, son of former Etah-Aliganj MLA Rameshwar Singh Yadav and his younger brother, former Zila Panchayat President Jugendra Singh Yadav, consider themselves “big leaders.” He suggested that one should simply ask them for advice and then go ahead and do whatever one pleases. He noted that when individuals refuse to heed the party’s directives and display poor conduct, it is often the arrogance born of wealth; those who come into a lot of money tend to start acting according to their own whims.
