New Delhi: Political temperatures are soaring ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. With just four months remaining until the election dates are announced, all political parties are busy strategising and positioning themselves. The BSP, which has formed the government in the state four times, is currently embroiled in an internal family feud.
BSP supremo Mayawati has expelled her nephew, Akash Anand, from the party. Amidst this, she has made a significant statement regarding both the BRICS summit and her nephew. She described her recent decisions as beneficial for the party. She noted that certain individuals expelled from the party had been spreading rumours among cadres over the past day or two, claiming she was ill. Mayawati claimed that on Saturday at 10:04 PM, Akash Anand called party in-charge Alok Kumar at her residence. He allegedly asked if Mayawati was unwell.

BSP chief Mayawati has levelled serious allegations against Akash Anand. She stated that he called the BSP in-charge to ask if she was ill. When Alok Kumar replied that she was fine and attending to her work, Akash Anand allegedly asked him not to mention the inquiry to ‘Behenji’.
Mayawati remarked that this is a matter requiring serious reflection; Akash Anand’s mindset could be either right or wrong. She further alleged that it appears Akash Anand is not acting on his own initiative but is instead operating under the influence of Ashok Siddharth.

Former Chief Minister Mayawati mentioned that a BSP meeting was convened on September 3, 2026, which lasted for a considerable time. During the meeting, a decision was made to divide the organisation into three sectors to accelerate party activities on a war footing. She stated that the first sector comprises Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and its operations are being overseen in accordance with her guidelines.
The remaining areas were also divided into distinct sectors. She stated that Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been placed in the first sector, with operations being overseen in accordance with her directives. She added that the in-charges of the respective sectors would continue to report to Delhi. Anand Kumar will be responsible for reviewing progress reports on the party’s activities. Mayawati noted that the post of ‘Chief Sector In-charge’ has been abolished; reports regarding these operations will now be submitted directly to her by Party Vice President Anand Kumar.
Mayawati’s remarks on BRICS
BSP supremo Mayawati hailed the unanimous adoption of the 140-paragraph ‘Delhi Declaration’ at the BRICS summit as a major diplomatic success. She highlighted that the declaration incorporates support for a two-state solution regarding Palestine and an independent Palestinian nation based on the 1967 borders. She also noted the commitment expressed to combat terrorism through all possible means, while referring to the Pahalgam terror attack.
