According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday schedule, banks will be closed on Friday, September 4, in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh. This means bank branches in major cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Dehradun, Bhopal, and Indore will remain completely closed.
Bank branches in smaller towns and rural areas will also remain fully closed. Janmashtami holidays will also be observed in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Ranchi. Banks will also remain closed on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6.
Bank Holidays on Sundays and Specific Saturdays
For your information, banks observe holidays on every Sunday and two Saturdays each month; no banking operations take place on these days. Banks remain completely closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. According to reports, banks will remain closed for approximately 14 days in September. This includes six regular weekend holidays. The remaining eight days of leave will be due to festivals and local events, varying by region.

On September 15 (Tuesday), banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, and Panaji on the occasions of Samvatsari, Nuakhai, and Ganesh Chaturthi. On September 21, banks will be closed in Guwahati, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram to mark the birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev and Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi.
Banks in Ranchi will observe a holiday on September 22 for Karma Puja. On September 23, banks in Jammu will remain fully closed to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji. Banks in Gangtok will observe a holiday on September 25 on the occasion of Indra Jatra.
