New Delhi: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the UP government has made a major employment announcement. CM Yogi Adityanath stated unequivocally, asking everyone to note the date that within the next six months, his government would issue appointment letters for government jobs to 100,000 youths.
Yogi Adityanath made this announcement on Tuesday during a ceremony to distribute appointment letters to 3,446 technical assistants for the Agriculture Department and 126 newly selected Mandi Secretaries for the Mandi Parishad. This announcement is being viewed as a move to undermine the opposition’s narrative regarding unemployment. Opposition parties have been consistently targeting the BJP government over issues concerning unemployment, education, and the youth.
CM Yogi Takes Aim at the SP
On Tuesday, CM Yogi Adityanath targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) while referring to the previous government without explicitly naming it. He remarked that previous governments betrayed the trust of the youth and engaged in the arbitrary distribution of jobs often based on money rather than merit. In contrast, he asserted that under his government, appointment letters are being issued without the need for recommendations or financial transactions.
He highlighted that recruitment is being conducted transparently, noting that his government has provided government jobs to over 9.30 lakh youths. He claimed that not a single appointment could be questioned. He contrasted this with the pre-2017 era, stating that as soon as a government job advertisement was released, the “uncle-nephew duo” and the “Mahabharat-style clan” would fan out across the state to extort money.
Young people would run from pillar to post, yet no results would materialise; he added that courts even had to issue stay orders at times. He stated that his government established rules to break the back of the “cheating mafia” and took swift action against them after assuming power.
Attack on SP Over Exam Irregularities
CM Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the previous SP government regarding cheating in examinations. He recalled that it used to take three months for UP Board exam results to be declared. He remarked that the government of that time acted as if cheating was their “birthright” and actively facilitated it.
He stated that his government reformed the system, and now, exam results are declared within just 15 days. He further stated that similar reforms have been mandated for higher education as well. Commissions and boards have been instructed to issue advertisements within one month of receiving requisitions, complete the examination and results process within three months, and issue appointment letters within six months.
