New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament is witnessing a massive uproar between the government and the opposition. Opposition parties are demanding a response from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the lathi-charge on students during a protest in Delhi. He asked the opposition to submit a written request for a discussion, promising to provide a reply. Following the Home Minister’s statement, Congress leader and Raebareli MP Rahul Gandhi remarked that they were not interested in Amit Shah’s speeches; instead, they wanted to know who ordered the firing on the students. Hitting back at the opposition, Amit Shah said he would also discuss why they were avoiding a debate, asserting that the NDA government, under the Prime Minister’s leadership, is ready to discuss every issue. Home Minister Amit Shah noted the rhetoric regarding people going missing or becoming fugitives. He questioned the utility of going to the House when the opposition was preventing both Houses of Parliament from functioning. He reiterated his readiness to answer any question within Parliament.
He stated that the government is prepared for a discussion starting at 3 PM today and continuing until 3 PM tomorrow (Thursday), provided the opposition submits a written request to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla by 2 PM. Amit Shah added that the discussion would commence at 3 PM today, and he would deliver his reply at 3 PM tomorrow.
He affirmed that he would personally participate in the discussion, leaving the choice to the opposition: whether to debate or create a ruckus. Targeting the opposition, he asserted that the government has nothing to hide and stated that he would also discuss why they did not allow the House to function.
