New Delhi: The monsoon is currently at its peak across the country, bringing heavy rainfall to many regions. However, a cause for concern is that despite the monsoon being at its peak, several areas remain in the grip of drought. Heavy rains are lashing the hilly regions of North India, leading to a drop in temperatures. Cloudy conditions have prevailed since morning in Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh.
The cloud cover and winds have caused temperatures to dip. In the northeastern states, monsoon rains continue to disrupt the pace of daily life. Landslides are also being reported in the hilly areas of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Puducherry. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for torrential rain across 15 states over the next four days.
Warning of Torrential Rain in 15 States
According to the IMD, alerts for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning have been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Light to heavy rainfall is also likely in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Along with the rain, strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 75 km/h may persist. Furthermore, warnings regarding landslides following heavy rainfall have been issued for the hilly states.
Weather Forecast for Delhi
The IMD does not anticipate significant changes in the weather on August 3. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 33°C, with a minimum of 24°C. Cloudy conditions are expected to persist throughout the day. For August 4, the forecast indicates a maximum temperature of 33°C and a minimum of 23°C, with cloudy skies and a possibility of rain.
Rain Warning for UP
According to the Meteorological Department, Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience a spell of moderate to heavy rainfall between August 3 and August 8. The IMD has forecast heavy rain for Western UP from August 4 to 7 and has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Eastern Uttar Pradesh for the period of August 3 to 7.
Heavy Rain Alert for Bihar
The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Bihar for August 3. According to the department, most districts in the state are likely to witness widespread rainfall between August 3 and 5. Heavy rainfall is expected at several locations on August 4 and 5. Along with the rain, strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 50 kmph are also likely.
