New Delhi: After successfully camping at Jantar Mantar to protest against the NEET paper leak and eventually securing the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) has made its mark. This victory is being hailed as a win for Gen-Z. Even before the buzz around the CJP movement could fully subside, a new party has emerged on social media.
This time, the party has been named the ‘E20 Janata Party.’ The E20 Janata Party has announced a campaign against Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. The new organisation is opposing the policy of blending ethanol into petrol. They have announced a plan to lay siege to Parliament on August 4, 2026—an event that is drawing significant attention.
This movement is also rapidly gaining followers on Instagram. Reports indicate that the E20 Janata Party has already garnered approximately 1.75 lakh followers, and this number is rising fast. This suggests the potential for another major movement against the central government.
Demand for Nitin Gadkari’s Resignation
The E20 Janata Party’s primary demand is the resignation of Nitin Gadkari, a cause for which a protest is expected soon. The party has demanded that the government provide an option for 100% pure petrol at fuel stations. Additionally, they are calling for the resignation of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
Support from Taxi and Transport Unions
The E20 Janata Party’s campaign is receiving strong support from the transport sector. The ‘Delhi Taxi and Tourist Transporters and Tour Operators Association’ has announced a march to Parliament on August 4 to protest against E20 petrol.
The union alleges that blending ethanol into petrol has reduced vehicle mileage and increased maintenance costs. They claim it is adversely affecting engine performance, particularly in older vehicles, and could lead to premature engine failure. Key Demands of the E20 Janata Party
The party garnered over 25,000 followers on the social media platform X within just a few hours. It clarified that it is not demanding the discontinuation of subsidies, free fuel, or ethanol-blended petrol. At the same time, the organisation has emphasised the importance of consumer freedom of choice regarding their fuel.
According to the organisation, consumers should have the option to purchase the fuel of their choice e, either pure petrol or E20. The organisation has also clarified its stance on transparent labelling, stating that petrol pumps must clearly indicate which type of fuel the customer is purchasing.
Current Situation
For context, 100-octane premium petrol (without ethanol) is already available, though only at select petrol pumps. It is priced at approximately ₹169 per litre, whereas the price of standard E20 petrol (in Delhi) is ₹102.12 per litre.
