New Delhi: The review process for the 8th Pay Commission is now gaining momentum, with a series of meetings taking place across the country. The constituted committee is visiting various states to gather suggestions. Meanwhile, continuing discussions on salary revision and other service-related benefits, the 8th Pay Commission has announced two additional rounds of talks with stakeholders in New Delhi next month.
This information was conveyed via a notice issued by the Pay Commission. The Commission stated that it will hold meetings with employee and pensioner organisations in Delhi from August 7 to 10. Only those employee union federations or organisations that have already submitted their memoranda are expected to participate. However, for those who have not yet engaged with the Commission, eligible unions and associations can now apply for an appointment.
Application Process
Eligible organisations can easily apply online using the NIC form available on the official 8th Central Pay Commission portal. Applications submitted via hard copy or email will not be accepted. Please note that when filling out the form, it is mandatory to enter the unique ‘Memo ID’ received after the submission of the memorandum. The Commission stated that details regarding the meeting venue and time will be provided separately.
Key Issues for Discussion
Several crucial issues will be discussed during the two-day meeting in Delhi. Organisations representing government employees and pensioners will raise important matters concerning salaries and service conditions. Discussions will also cover increasing the minimum basic pay and determining a new fitment factor.
Additionally, topics such as allowances, promotions, and career progression will be addressed. The Commission noted that the meeting scheduled for August is part of the ongoing consultation process. Further meetings will be organised in Delhi as well as in other states and Union Territories in the coming months. Employee organisations based outside the Delhi-NCR region may schedule meetings within their respective states or Union Territories, or at a nearby location.
