New Delhi: Political temperatures soared in the national capital when Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, staged a sit-in protest alongside various Congress leaders. Samajwadi Party chief and Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav also joined Rahul Gandhi’s protest. Police detained both leaders near the Prime Minister’s residence, one of the most secure locations in Delhi and escorted them to a bus.
Rahul Gandhi demanded a discussion on the NEET issue during the Monsoon Session and called for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The government sent Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh to hear Rahul Gandhi’s demands, but no breakthrough was reached. Soon, leaders from other political parties also arrived to join the Congress protest.
What demands did Rahul Gandhi raise?
Rahul Gandhi presented key demands to the government. He stated that if the government agreed to discuss NEET and all related issues, including the ongoing protests in Parliament, he would immediately call off his sit-in.
