New Delhi: Weather patterns are shifting significantly across regions ranging from the Northeast to North India. People in Delhi and surrounding areas, who have been awaiting rainfall, are set to get relief from the scorching heat. Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate sharply in the coming hours, with forecasts predicting heavy rain accompanied by strong winds across various areas.
Cloud cover has persisted over Western Uttar Pradesh since morning, providing some respite from the heat as the sun’s intensity has dimmed. A warning for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and squalls has been issued for 15 states for tomorrow, July 18. Additionally, an advisory urging caution has been issued due to the likelihood of lightning strikes in several parts of Eastern India.

Heavy Rain Alert for 15 States
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain warnings have been issued for 15 states across the country for July 18. Alerts have been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, and Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department anticipates heavy rainfall in Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Furthermore, heavy downpours are likely in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. Wind speeds in these regions could reach 60 to 70 kmph. Fishermen have been advised to exercise caution.
Storm and Rain Warning for Delhi
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for the national capital, Delhi, for July 18 and 19. Wind speeds could reach 60 to 65 kmph during this period, with gusty winds expected. On July 18, Delhi is likely to see a maximum temperature of 37°C and a minimum of 31°C. The rainfall is expected to bring relief from the heat.
Weather Outlook for Uttar Pradesh
According to the IMD, heavy rain warnings have also been issued for Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Bijnor, and Sitapur. An alert for heavy rain has been issued for Ayodhya, Bahraich, Moradabad, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Azamgarh, Pilibhit, and Amethi.
Heavy downpours are also likely in Sonbhadra, Deoria, Ballia, Kushinagar, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, and Gorakhpur. Squalls with wind speeds of up to 70 km/h may occur. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature on July 18 is expected to be 33°C, while the minimum is likely to be 28°C.

Rain Expected in Bihar
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall across various parts of Bihar. According to the IMD, alerts for heavy rain have been issued for Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Buxar, Aurangabad, Gaya, Jehanabad, and Patna. Alerts for heavy rainfall have also been issued for Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, and Kishanganj. Additionally, warnings for heavy rain have been issued for Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Begusarai, and Lakhisarai.
