Bus Accident

New Delhi: A shocking and tragic incident has been reported from Himachal Pradesh. On Sunday morning, a large boulder suddenly fell onto a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus near Gahra in the Chamba district. The impact was so severe that the boulder pierced the roof and crashed inside the vehicle, causing panic among the passengers.

People scrambled to take cover to escape the falling rock. Tragically, one passenger died, and four others were injured. The bus was travelling from Bharmour to Chamba. News of the incident left everyone stunned. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. According to reports, there were approximately 40 passengers on board.

Passengers Returning from a Religious Event

Preliminary investigations suggest that most of the passengers were returning from a Lord Shiva worship ceremony. The on-the-spot death of a passenger caused widespread alarm. Four passengers are reported injured. Upon receiving news of the incident, local police and nearby residents rushed to the scene. Relief and rescue operations were carried out, and passengers were sent onward in other vehicles, while the injured were taken to the hospital.

Hospital Where the Injured Were Admitted

Those injured in the bus accident have been admitted to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, for treatment. An administrative inquiry into the incident has been initiated.

Frequent rockfalls and landslides in hilly regions have raised serious concerns among the public. Every year during the monsoon season, large-scale landslides claim lives. Residents of these hilly areas are seeking solutions from the government to protect themselves from such tragic incidents.

Landslide Situation in Kangra

The monsoon is active in Himachal Pradesh, resulting in continuous torrential rainfall. The rain has disrupted normal life in several areas, and heavy downpours have triggered landslides across the mountainous terrain. Recently, some tourists became stranded in a seasonal stream in Kangra after the water level suddenly rose.

The group consisted of seven people, including two children from Punjab, all of whom were successfully rescued. Officials reported that the tourists had gone to the banks of the Neugal Khad (stream) near a private coffee house. At some point, they crossed over to the other side of the stream.

Details provided by officials

According to officials, the water level rose sharply just as the tourists were returning. The surge in water destroyed a makeshift wooden bridge, leaving them stranded. Upon learning of the incident, a temporary path was immediately created using ladders. The two children and the woman were brought out first, followed by the safe rescue of the men.
