VHP Demands Punishment for Culprits in Ram Temple Donation Theft Case

The controversy surrounding the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi donation drive in Ayodhya is intensifying. Alongside the verbal sparring between the opposition and the government, members of various other organizations are also launching direct attacks on the Trust. So far, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested eight individuals in connection with the matter, and notices have been issued to over 70 people. Action is also expected to be taken against certain bank employees. Alok Kumar, the International President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), has termed the theft of Ram Mandir offerings as unfortunate. regrettable and has hurt the sentiments of Ram devotees across the globe.

What was said regarding the action against Champat Rai?

Alok Kumar termed the matter highly unfortunate. He then made a surprising statement regarding potential action against Champat Rai, noting that they would wait for the investigation into the case to conclude before considering any such steps. In an interview, he also stated that the VHP’s role had effectively ended once the Supreme Court delivered its verdict; the responsibility for the construction and management of the Ram Mandir does not lie with the VHP, but rather with the Trust and the government.

Champat Rai Has Resigned

As the issue regarding the theft at the temple escalated, Champat Rai resigned from his position in the trust. Alok Kumar stated that Champat Rai had resigned from the temple trust post following the investigation.Rai’s dismissal even before the investigation’s findings were out. It is important to note that the charge of theft was leveled against Champat Rai’s driver, not Rai himself. Champat Rai is the International Vice President of the VHP; he was not appointed to the post of Trust General Secretary by the VHP. Kumar stated that they are not responsible for this matter.

VHP Puts Forward These Demands

VHP International President Alok Kumar stated that, in order to win public trust, an FIR must be registered and the investigation conducted swiftly.Earlier, Alok Kumar had shared a post on social media featuring an image of the grand Ram Mandir bathed in the light of the rising sun. He also outlined four demands to address the irregularities concerning the temple. The first demand called for the immediate registration of an FIR against all the accused. fast-track court for the hearing of the case and emphasized the need for the guilty to be punished promptly.

Opposition on the Attack

Opposition parties are relentlessly targeting the government and the trust over the Ram Mandir donation theft case.Akhilesh Yadav, accused the BJP of stealing donations. He remarked that those capable of stealing donations could also steal votes and even poach their MPs; therefore, they now need to remain vigilant.
