India has become the global leader in real-time digital payments, says an IMF fintech report.
UPI processed over 18.39 billion transactions worth ₹24 lakh crore in June 2025.
That’s a 32% growth from June 2024’s 13.88 billion UPI transactions.
UPI now powers nearly 50% of all real-time payments globally.
Over 491 million users and 65 million merchants are on UPI, a
cross 675 banks.
India averages around 650 million UPI transactions per day.
UPI is now active in 7 countries like Singapore, UAE, Franc
e, and Mauritius.
It has significantly reduced the use of cash and cards in India.

igital payments.
